Slagters Nek

The Somerset East Museum features an extensive exhibition on the Slagters Nek rebellion and the events that led up to it.

After an incident with British soldiers, in which farmer Frederick Bezuidenhout was fatally wounded, his brother Johannes vowed revenge, and convinced a number of other people in the area to rebel.  This inevitably led to the rebels arrest, and some of them were sentenced to death and executed.
