The Buffelshoek Pass is situtated on the R337 between Pearston and Cradock.
Renowned artist Walter Battiss was born in Somerset East, and lived in the building that now houses the museum as a child.
Housed in one of the most historically significant buildings in the town the museum is a must see for any visitors to the town.
The Cookhouse railway station was built in the late 1800's as part of the expansion of the Cape Colony's railway system, and became an important junction. Unfortunately the station is in desperate need for some TLC, but it is still functional.
